A Wonderful experience at Ocean Asian Restaurant . Today was my first visit to this new restaurant in Washington Township. I was not expecting much from the outside but thought I would give it a try, and I am glad that I did. Don't let the outside fool you--- this is not your ordinary strip-mall Chinese Restaurant. Once you step through the door, you enter into an upscale, modern, Asian themed atmosphere. The space is great, the music helps to set the atmosphere, and the decor is certainly upscale.Service was immediate, friendly, and knowledgeable. The menu is huge, interesting, and varied. You can find the standards, but also some great specialties. And the presentation on each dish is gorgeous. As my entree was served, a guest passing my table could not help but say out loud, "Oh my, look at that!" It is obvious that great care and thought has gone into every detail of your meal.I started with a cast iron pot of exceptional Japanese green tea. I wanted a sampling of foods so I really over did it with my selection. I believe that you can tell a lot about most western restaurants by the bread they serve. If the bread is excellent, then you can pretty much expect that the same kind of care will go into every dish they serve. With Chinese restaurants, I go by the wonton soup. If the wontons are full and tasty and the broth is delicious, then you know that you will be in good hands for the rest of the meal. The wonton soup here did not disappoint. I only wish that shrimp wonton was an option.I followed this with Shumai. These delicious Japanese dumplings were beautifully presented on an elongated porcelain plate lined with a Banana leaf, and garnished with shredded carrot. My entree was the beautifully presented Thai Shrimp Mango on a lovely white porcelain plate featuring four delicately curved sections. In the top left section was a perfectly scored fresh half an orange. In the bottom left section was a perfect mound of white rice. The top right portion brought two wonderfully formed fried wontons stuffed with a luscious mixture of cream cheese and crab. the bottom right section held four large shrimp, fresh sweet Mango, and perfectly crunchy red and green peppers, along with snap green beans in a moderately spicy Thai Chili sauce. The flavors were all fresh and natural, and oh so delicious. I ate more than I wanted to- that's for sure.I finished off the meal with a dessert of Mango Mochi. These are ravioli in style. A wrapper made of rice flour and sugar is filled with premium mango ice cream. Two of these, each scored into 4 sections for easy eating, came arranged on a long rectangular plate, drizzled with chocolate sauce and garnished with whipped cream. Not your usual Asian presentation for dessert.I will be returning to Ocean Asian restaurant and I hope that many will try, and decide to make this a regular dining option. We are fortunate in Washington Township to have a first rate Asian restaurant in town and I wish them success, not only for them-- but for selfish reasons, of course.

I've had bad Chinese before but this oh boy it takes the cake. The scallops where horrendously undercooked. No flavor whatsoever. The beef and vegetables all tasted as if they were boiled in old mop water. HORRIBLE ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE?

We used to order from Lotus routinely. They have the cheapest Chinese food in the area. Some of the other restaurants are more authentic (and tastier), but this isn't bad. Good, quick food ...?
